Hi, I’m Katie Watson, a qualified counsellor offering one-to-one support for individuals facing life’s everyday challenges - from anxiety, low mood and burnout to that deeper sense of feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and rooted in the belief that we all have the capacity to grow, heal, and rediscover who we are - even when life has thrown us curveballs.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent nine years out of work raising my family and caring full-time for my disabled son. Like many people, I wrestled with the idea of “starting again.” It wasn’t until a deeply personal loss through ill mental health that I decided to finally pursue what had always been in the back of my mind - training as a therapist.
I’ve always been the person people turn to when they need a good listener, and now I get to offer that space in a more intentional, supportive way. I work from a person-centred perspective, which means I see you as the expert in your own life. My job isn’t to fix or advise, but to walk alongside you - to help you understand yourself more deeply, reconnect with what matters to you, and make empowered choices for the life you want to live.
If you’re feeling a bit lost, stuck, or like you’ve lost sight of who you are… you’re not alone. It would be a privilege to support you as you find your way back to yourself
I’m a registered member of the BACP and also listed on Counselling Directory, Psychology Today, and Emote Care -professional platforms that verify therapists and provide additional information if you’d like to read more about my approach.
In our sessions together, my focus is on meeting you exactly where you are, without judgment or pretence. I take a person-centred, humanistic approach, honouring your unique experiences, strengths, and perspective. Creating a safe, supportive space for you is my top priority. I firmly believe that everyone, regardless of their challenges, has the capacity to heal. At a pace that feels right for you, we will work toward enhancing your well-being and sense of fulfilment. Whether we explore your past or focus on navigating the present, our work together will help you build a brighter, more fulfilling future.
My sessions aren’t about rigid clinical conversations; they are a space where you can be unapologetically you.
I offer both short-term and long-term counselling, with flexible options to suit your needs — whether that’s face-to-face, online, by phone, or even through nature walks. I work with adults and young people aged 18 and over.
We’ll start with a free 20 minute initial consultation, where we can chat about what’s brought you to counselling and what you’d like to achieve. It’s a chance for us to see if we’re a good fit to work together. During this session, I’ll listen closely to your needs and we’ll discuss how I can best support you moving forward.
Counselling is usually arranged on a weekly, open-ended basis, with sessions continuing at your own pace, until you feel ready to conclude.
Fee: £50 per 50-minute session.

I’m a qualified Person-Centred counsellor, but I take a pluralistic approach to therapy. What that means is I believe you are the expert of your own experience. Since everyone is unique, I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each individual.
I’ve had the privilege of working with young people in a secondary school setting and with adults referred to a mental health charity in Cambridge. Throughout this work, I’ve provided both short and long-term therapy, helping people navigate a wide range of challenges.
Alongside my private practice, I continue to work with the charity in two roles: as a Therapist and Therapeutic Practitioner. I support young people and their families, using a systemic approach to address the impacts of trauma, abuse, and financial hardship. It’s incredibly rewarding to work with these families and has deepened my understanding of how generational trauma can shape lives.
I’m currently completing my coaching qualification and look forward to offering life coaching services in the near future. Stay tuned for more details!

Counselling begins with you choosing who you would like to work with. If you are interested in finding out more about wats-on your mind counselling then contact me via email, phone or text. You can also simply click the contact button on the website to send an enquiry.
An introductory session is the next step. During this chat I will find out more about you and what support you are looking for and you will find out more about how I work and how I am as a person. If we decide to work together then we will schedule weekly sessions where we will meet in person or remotely for 50 minutes.
How many sessions a client needs is as personal and unique as they are and through private practice there is the freedom for you to have counselling as long as you need it. Some people choose to have counselling to address a specific issue, which might be concluded for them in 12 sessions, others are looking for shorter or longer term support. We will review the counselling experience regularly and talk together about when the time is right to end, you can of course choose to stop at any time but it is safer to end in a planned and thoughtful way.
I work with anyone from the age of 18 upwards.
Should I feel through our introductory discussions however that there are other professionals who would be better placed to support you with specific difficulties, then I would be open and honest about referring you.
48 hours notice is needed to cancel a session or a fee will be charged. The details of this will be agreed in the contract that we sign at the start of our work together.
Sessions are to be paid by bank transfers 48 hours prior to the session.
We will give each other notice of holidays and lack of availability, at least two week's notice, so that we can factor in breaks to our work together. I work in term times only.
I am based in Hail Weston, a village just outside the town St.Neots. There is a bus route from St.Neots to the village. My private practice is accessed just off the B645, there is parking available and sessions are held in a ground floor room in my home. Exact details will be provided on booking our first session.
